When Chris Rock said 'Whatup Whitebread?' to Brad he should have

responded with: "Whatup black pudding?" or "black beans" or whatever...

My subtitles said White Brad. I'm not deaf either and that's what I heard.

reply

lol no he definitly said whitebread, your subs must be faulty... Besides even if he said white Brad pointing out his color is equally racist

Why don't you wish in one hand, and s#*t in the other. See which one fills up first.

reply

Yep, faulty subs 😅

You can check the script here: http://www.springfieldspringfield.co.uk/movie_script.php?movie=top-five

reply

yeah i think it was a play on his name

reply

ha!  Yeah, I am inclined to think the second poster (and the person doing the subtitles) got it right. It was White Brad...not whitebread.

I mean, the OP even got the first part wrong. He doesn't say "Whatup" at all. It was, "Heyyy, White Brad! Happy Birthday!"

Now, obviously no one in their right mind would greet someone they just met that way...and yes a similar response from Brad would have been warranted, such as: "Yeah. Hi African-American Andre" or something like that.

I suspect Dan Cheadle believes in such a thing as reverse racism.

Why do we warn of spoilers, isn't that the chance you take going to a site like imdb?

reply

No I don't believe in reverse racism... Racism is the same thing wether it's a white guy prejudiced against a black person, or a black woman prejudiced against a yellow person... There is no difference therefor it's not reversed

We crash into each other, just so we can feel something.

reply

I could be wrong - but didn't Andre seem a bit surprised that 'Brad' was white? So I thought he sorta slips and adds the "white" when he's introduced

reply

Yeah I thought that too. He said White Brad. But the look before was surprise that he was white.
