1 character is confusing me
so are we to take it that mark was luring the others into the belly?
so it was really an inside job?
his character was creepy from the start so i guess he was always evil.

I assumed he was under the control of the god, at least since he hurt his head. Same as Mandeville was with his orphanage.
"I have a new master now"
yeah as soon as i posted, i thought of this. totally forgot his incident.
i think maybe he got "infected" while looking up the fireplace or whatever that was, and finally got fully possessed after the ritual.
Yes thats what I thought, when you seeing him going into that back room on his own, and then the door slams behind him, after that he just seemed weird.
shareExactly. Remember also the scene where Deacon and Gray come home to find Mark standing in the living room of the cottage in the dark? That was really strange, something that no one would do. We noticed it because we knew it was weird and we knew he had that incident in that tunnel thing. Deacon and Gray didn't have time to think about it because Mark immediately told them he was shutting the investigation down, so their attention was focused on that.

I just watched this, and excuse my ignorance but who was Mandeville? They kept saying the name, and talking about an orphanage, i feel like that kinda came out of nowhere, did i just zone out of that bit or is it a recurring topic of conversation throughout the film?
sharemy memory of the film is a bit sketchy since it's been a while, but Mandeville was mentioned from the start, I'm pretty sure. He was the original owner of the church/land. His story was a prominent part of the film.
sharethat diary they were reading was his, and the bits they read are ominous when rewatched
