The teeth?

All of the casts have blackened teeth. What's up with that? Is that suppose to be a cultural thing and that people purposely blackened their teeth? Care for someone to explain?

the suspense and music is powerful and I like to watch serious horror movies from Asia but here the horror and comedy dont make sense. its like having sugar and salt in your tea you cant judgethe taste. I hope you get my point I am making here.

I believe it is something older, not done nowadays regularly. The movie is purposely a mix of very old and new, eg the black teeth and the home construction, but the modern hairstyles and technology and references to Ang Lee and Michael Phelps.

Also this is based on a very old folklore tale so that was part of the reason for adopting this hybrid style.
