what's up with all the fancy haircuts? Is it usual in Thailand to have that "stylish" and fancy haircuts for no reason?

I think it was a traditional haircut they used to wear in the past.

No, the cast are so into their styles that they refused to have their hair done for the movie so the director allowed them to keep it.
