They parodied My cousin Vinny. Anyone else find that odd?

This show seems to have a lot of obscure references in it like Family Guy tends to which is fine but I can't imagine too many people who watch the show catching on to some of these not because they're referencing older stuff but older stuff that even many adults wouldn't catch on to.

Nope. This show has two audiences. One is the people who are too young to think Teen Titans is good, and the other is people who are too old to think Teen Titans was anything but a half-baked attempt at pandering to the generation that fell for the idea that "all anime is awesome" and refused to watch anything else. And that's the age group that catches all of the older references.

But I'm also the guy who kept the kids straight on which series Nick's TMNT was referencing with the Turtles' latest favorite old TV show, because I watched all of their original US broadcasts except whichever version of Star Trek they were referencing (hard to tell on an animated series if they meant the original live action show or the long-forgotten animated sequel...though I might have just answered that question).

You know what noone tells you about cooking with the Dark Side? The food is really good!

Not at all. The Show writers probably like that movie. So they wrote it in their show as a joke. My cousin Vinny is only played once a week on TBS/TNT..So im sure some kid probably saw it on a lazy saturday or sunday while eating their cereal.

I thought it was fantastic.

As others have said the target audience is mixed. Also they are doing some of it for themselves I bet.
