What made Eli go back to the bikers

Even though Eli had a wonderful wife and daughter but I am guessing it was to symbolize no matter how hard he tries to go legit he will always be thought of as a criminal,

The way I understood it was- Sacks was meeting with Keith to tell him who in the Sherriff's Dept. had set Weevil up but was killed before he could tell him. The Biker gang was too afraid of the cops so they wouldn't talk either. Weevil was going back so he could lead and protect them and get the information from them. I'll watch it again to make sure but that's what I took it as.

I though it might be because he saw that even when he was trying to go straight he couldn't avoid trouble with the law, so he was like "futz it, might as well go back to the gang".

To do what he's rooted to do and help create a safe home for his family. His story parallels Veronica's.....it's where he belongs and he can't stay away.

From what I remember from the show Weevil always had a sense of honor and family. Guess he needed to protect his biker family as well.

I felt the writers left it open for a sequel

I felt that it was because no matter how hard he tried, it didn't matter. However it was covered more in the second book.
With the criminal charges, people, particularly the rich side, did not want to take their Beemers into someone considered a known convict. His garage got no business after that, and he went broke and couldn't get any work. So it was back to a life of crime.

For what it's worth, Eli's story from the movie gets a resolution in the second VM novel.

In the kingdom of the blind, you're the village idiot.

reply

So the resolution is he goes back to a life of crime?

reply

Ugh. I hate this. Weevil keeps getting kicked even when he tries. I liked seeing him finally have a little bit of good.
