Question to those who hated this movie, but loved the animated version

Do you think that this remake has destroyed all your memories with the animated version? I know that most people who loved the animated counterpart weren't particularly keen with this movie, so I'm just wondering.

reply

I didn't hate this movie, but I have hated plenty of other remakes and not once has it "destroyed" my memories of the original.

reply

u know, i guess de op meant dat de question was 2 those whu hated de movie, not those whu lyked it. duuuh.

reply

Okay, I love the animated movie, and hate this worthless ripoff!

My deep and abiding love for the animated movie is unchanged.

reply

Not really. I will feel different when watching the cartoon, but I still love it very much (it's my favorite Disney movie).

I mostly just feel sad and disappointed when I watch the live-action one. I was initially unhappy, and kind of annoyed at how they presented it, but I've had time to cool off. I have a DVD of it if I ever need to be reminded why the cartoon is better.

I also have a DVD of the cartoon version, the Diamond edition :D.

reply

I still have good memories of the animated version and compared to this live action version, I find the songs, particularly the main title song, much more emotional and stirring in the former. However having seen the latter twice now, I find the Gaston song hilarious. I do not hate the new film....it just doesn’t do it completely for me; I like lots about it, but my main gripe is the fact I believe Watson seriously miscast for the role of Belle.

reply

Agreed. I thought Watson was a miscast, since she's too goody-two-shoes to portray someone who was like Belle in the animated version.

reply

Eh, I don’t think “goody two-shoes” quite covers it for Emma Watson. She does that thing with her eyebrows where she smirks that “I think you’re stupid and I’m better than you” expression, which makes me almost immediately dislike her on the spot.

Fair enough. But I still consider her to be a goody two-shoes.

reply

It hasn't destroyed anything. In time this film will be totally forgotten, while the animated version will remain a classic.

reply

True. You're right.

reply

like aladdin, BATB and lion king I dont even consider these movies as existing

reply

No it has not destroyed the original for me. I regularly forget this one even exists-- it was just rather meh for me.

reply

In my book, neither this movie nor the other Disney live-action remakes exist.
