Beauty and the beast is not only one of my favorite animated but one of my favorite films i doubt its going to do it and this better not insult the late Howard Ashman

That's true, but I personally am not expecting it to top the animated version.

Anyone expecting this to top the original is just setting themselves up for heartbreak. I perceive this film as a companion piece to the original animation and nothing more. Just like the musical, just like the novelizations and just like the toys and costumes and collectibles - just another piece to add to the pile of stuff celebrating a masterpiece of a film :)

shareI doubt that is what they're trying to do. It's a modern classic and they clearly want to be as respectful of it as possible but still do their own thing. Like this year's Jungle Book which I believe worked out splendidly!
