OT-ish: It's sad how 'girly' films & such are considered so 'polarizing'

Movies and TV shows that are aimed at girls/women are almost always universally disliked or made fun of while movies and TV shows aimed at boys/men are almost always universally praised and highly revered. Even if they are a commercial hit, that doesn't mean anything to people and in fact it makes people attack it more and go on and on about why people shouldn't like it (for example, Frozen). I think that's sad. I think Beauty and the Beast is one of those rare movies where the expected general audience would mostly be young girls but it actually attracted plenty males too and garnered high praise despite however 'girly' it was. And I'm sure most of those boys will flat out declare that "The Lion King" and "Aladdin" were their all time favorite Disney movies and they merely 'tolerated' Beauty and the Beast. I never understood how it was so difficult for boys and men to get into 'girly' movies and tv shows, I feel like they miss out on a lot of good stories and entertainment by strictly confining themselves to movies and tv shows that only has lots of action, guns blazing, vulgar humor, etc.

I think I can't help but take it personally because growing up, I had an older sister that loved to make me feel bad about anything I took an interest in. If I liked this movie or watched this tv show, she would be right there in my face to tell me how 'gay' and 'retarded' it was and how I was for liking it in the first place. So whenever I hear men give women a hard time for the movies and tv shows they like, I'm immediately brought back to all those times when my sister would do the same thing to me.

Indeed it is. Remember how maligned Titanic was, starting a few years after its release?

Whatever you are, be a good one.

The sad fact is many men these days are snowflakes.

It's not enough that the majority of films are aimed at them.

So much so that they would never be able to watch every such film or TV show.

No, they must also tear down films solely because those films are not made with them in mind.
