Autotune ft. Emma Watson - Belle (reprise)

You know, after watching the golden globes movie clip, I'm like "dang, that's a lot of electronic auto tuning". Belle sounds like a robot. You might as well play this song at a techno club!!

reply

Since when has theatrically released Disney musicals ever used autotune?

reply

That's what's alarming about what we've seen so far. Musicals are specifically to showcase strong singing. And the Disney standard has been to choose the best singer for the princess role. It just doesn't make sense to put so much effort into everything else, but have sub par singing in the film. They should strongly reconsider dubbing Emma.

reply

Let me guess, you would be available!

reply

Or they would have been better off not casting her at all?

Maybe this will clear things up.

reply

Just because they said they didn't use autotune doesn't mean they actually didn't. I guess if you don't have an ear for music you may not notice it, but many of us do. A human can't imitate an electronic, robotic sound. They are not fooling me.

reply

Ok this is clearly showing how arrogant you are. You're not in charge of this whole film production, they are. They are the producers of the film, they know what they're doing. They already told us that there is no autotune in her voice. This is her real voice.

So it's their word against yours.

reply

Actually the link you gave proves NOTHING. Jack Morrissey hasn't even said "there is no autotune". He just kept replying "no" and "that isn't so" to people saying "there's too much autotune". Which, to those of us accustomed to human speech and communication, means "no, there is not too much autotune". He's obviously avoiding saying "there's none at all" but is still posting SOME replies as to defend his film. So no, it's not his/her word against theirs, because "they" never gave their word to anything.

But keep defending this film with mule-ish stubbornness - every time I come to these boards I see you're still at it, more insistent and desperate than ever.

I don't even mind the movie. I think I'll like it very much. But I'm willing to admit when it has flaws and I'm willing to see reality as it is and read a text as it is (and not as I'd like it to be). It's nice not wearing heart-shaped glasses.

reply

Thanks Voice!

I agree with what you say. I think I will like the movie too, but critical of its flaws. I just don't want this travesty to occur again. We are still at the beginning of a long trail of animated-to-live action adaptations, and it's important that Disney knows what it did right and what it's doing wrong.

reply

You haven't seen the movie. Do you have any idea how much money Disney made last year alone and you are going to tell them what they are doing wrong.

reply

It's not all about the money. Of course Disney was very profitable. But critic reception is important too. Maleficent got mixed reviews, so Disney used that feedback to refine its current movie lineup. For example, people seem to prefer a more faithful adaptation to an animated film. So feedback does matter.

reply

Seems like her sub par singing is a recurring theme in these threads.

reply

The sad thing is that her voice wasn't that bad. There are moments when it's not all fixed up and while she is no Paige O'Hara, it was passable. Instead they made her sound like a robot.

reply

"it's important that Disney knows what it did right and what it's doing wrong."

Disney didn't have to go back and fix "what they did wrong", and that's not even what they did anyway. With any of their horrible remakes. All these remakes are good at is making more problems.

It sounds like Hatsune Miku

reply

Well dang lol and Emma wishes she sounded at least that good.

reply

Wow I thought I was the only one. It was jarring hearing the songs so processed. Daft Punk anyone?? May as well have gotten them to record Belle’s songs.

reply

Watson's singing was praised when the film came out, for reasons I don't understand.

She's got a weak little voice at best, and no clue how to give a song some life.

reviews TEND to simp towards the big successful studios. they'd lose their access and perks if they didnt

reply

That's one reason the opinions of movie critics mean nothing to me.
