Stupid, full of idiot characters and bad CG.

Killer AI takes over ship and kills or tries to kill the hackers one by one. Instead of oh, I don't know, shutting off the life support systems so they all just die.

This movie's plot only works if 90% of the characters are completely feckless idiots. Even in a society that has made the Kardashians famous, I think that percentage is a tad high.

The plot twist is lame. Even so, I wont spoil it.

Thinking about it, this movie made me feel the same way I did watching Revolution.
Every last character on that mess of a show is feckless idiot.

So much for a nice sci-fi escape on election night. Lol

Feckless. It's a word. Look it. :)

reply

Rats. I needed an escape from that wretched election night.

Feckless or not, thanks for saving me 90 min.

i agree this movie sucks ass... go watch 'Event Horizon' instead. that is the movie you want to watch not this crap.

reply

True, Event Horizon is a better alternative. Even Sunshine or Solaris would be better.

Mr. Hewlett should stick to acting and not drag his lovely sister into anymore dreadful projects.

reply

Definitely, this movie sucked and made me somewhat sad I'm not actually rewatching some of the movies you mentioned.

Thanks David, er, I mean marky.

That was quite the intelligent breakdown of the faults in my review of your, I mean this film. You burned me good.

It's clear to me now that this brilliant mess, I mean film, was just way over my poor little head.

Not really.

Thank you for the good laugh though. You cheeky devil you. Lol

reply

P.S. The only thing complex about this mess is the musophobia suffered by the rat boy.

reply

I disagree; the complexity involved in cramming this thing so full of logical fallacies is astounding! It's also very amusing and ripe for a Mystery Science Theater 3K treatment :) However it's not nearly as bad as "Stranded".

While enjoyable for a laugh, I couldn't help but feel a bit sad as this is a massive waste of potential. There were some really nice visuals and ideas that were absolutely squandered here.

IAm doesn't shut off life support right off because he/it takes pleasure in manipulating his victims. He's experimenting with them, seeing how they react. He's a psychopath who gets off on their suffering.

I agree that some of the characters- the cute asian chick particularly- do some monumentally stupid things, but that's the human condition. And if everyone had common sense in horror movies, they're be pretty dull.

I thought it was a pretty decent film, considering; it makes the best it can with its limitations, and Momoa makes for an effective antagonist. It's nice to see him as something other than the muscleman.

They advertise that it's from the producer of "Splice", and I hold it in the same regard; not perfect, but I found them both pretty effective films.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I was too busy looking at Kaida (Jeananne Goossen)'s t!ts to notice whether or not there was a plot. Funny that only females chose to tie the tops of their jumpsuits around their waists, while they're traipsing around the cavernous inner spaces of a gigantic interstellar freighter (which just happen to look exactly like the roof space of a huge warehouse or factory), complete with conventional fluorescent lighting and massive steel I-beams, obviously necessary so the place can support itself against the unexplained artificial gravity. Oh, and let's not forget the marvellous life-support system that provides a nice balmy oxygen-rich environment in all this vast interior space when it's just a couple of degrees above absolute zero in the hard vacuum outside the paper-thin hull.

I suppose that's not really fair; Star Trek got away for decades with unexplained gravity and there always seemed to be breathable air and tropical temperatures no matter where they beamed over to. No need for cumbersome spacesuits.

So, anyway, a plot isn't really necessary when you've got all this other stuff to grab your attention.
