Meh, so ultimately she was a bad judge of men

I know people found this profound, but all I came away from it thinking was she was a horrible judge of men. My guess is he was a play boy type who married her for her money because he was represented as being more physically attractive than her, gave her up as soon as he was arrested and then wanted to use the "look a like" to get her inheritance. If that was not the case they did a pretty poor job establishing it.

I did ask myself would it have been better if she learned he was suffering from what he did and maybe was pretty badly tortured to coerce him into turning her in? Probably not, then they could wind up together as she forgives him for what he did which would be pretty cliche.

Would her killing him or extracting some other revenge have been better? Probably not as it would have been out of character.

Ultimately I guess they ended it the best way possible, but then we're left with the fact she married a weak man. Essentially that means all she went through just allowed her to realize what a loser he was. I guess some people were more impressed with that than I was. I mean how many people learn that lesson in every day life without a war and going through everything she went through?

I don't think everyone truly knows how spineless their spouse is nor do they necessarily expect "they better not give me up in a genocide situation" as a deal breaker. I could forgive if they were truly remorseful. If everyone was so righteous then the history would have unfolded differently.

Watching it I rolled my eyes when she was so happy to be reunited. Her character grew by the end which was satisfying. That said, I didn't find it that great a movie.
