Do you think this sequel to 1996's "Trainspotting" will also contain drug use, violence, sexual content, strong language and perhaps other, maybe even unique, disturbing material to it or will it be a safer and more sanitized version of the 1st one?

I didn't find the first movie disturbing at all . It makes me sad in the sense that when the first film came out I was just starting my addiction to heroin . 21 years later and I'm still on , and have a habit . Although under control . That's what s disturbing . :/

* Ewan MacGreggor taking a dump in the filthiest toilet in Scotland and then taking a dive in it to retrieve his suppositories.
* Ewan MacGreggor's character shooting a dog with an air rifle in a sensitive place causing it to attack its owner.
* Begbie's character being a genuine monster attacking several people in particular him throwing carelessly a beer glass that lands on a young woman's face, him beating up some man because he thought he distracted him during a game of pool and him attacking that dude in a pub towards the end and then later cutting Spud's hand among other things he does of course throughout the film.
* The human dung from Spud's bed sheets flying all over the dining area and people whilst they are eating.
* Ewan MacGreggor's character sleeping with Kelly MacDonald's Diane in a graphic sex scene and then it is revealed that the girl is slightly underage.
* Allison's baby dying.
* Ewan's character having a nightmare that also includes that aforementioned dead baby crawling on the ceiling and him screaming vigorously in pain.
* Ewan's character escaping after deciding to keep that bag with money and taking it away from Begbie while he is asleep and Begbie going nuts in a hotel even when the police arrives.
As well as a couple of others I didn't quite mention yet.
Its easily Danny Boyle's most disturbing film.

I have to admit, I really didn't find it that disturbing. Then or now. Yes, those scenes aren't for the weak of stomach, but hardly disturbing. There has been much, much worse in many other films.

2 krypton son - yeah, I know that "Trainspotting" (1996) and its individual scenes don't reach the heights of movies like "Salo or the 120 Days of Sodom" (1975), "Cannibal Holocaust" (1980), "Irreversible" (2002), "Sweet Movie" (1974) and "In a Glass Cage" (1987), but still, for a highly popular mainstream film, particularly with scenes that it contains aforementioned, it does succeed in being disturbing more so than most other mainstream productions usually.
And to those who don't watch TOO many movies overall, it sure is disturbing.

Otherwise it's all dark comedy
10 days left until this movie's release here in UK and we'll sure find that all out.

Having seen it, its definitely in general LESS disturbing and gritty than the first, although the scene where Sick Boy hits Mark Renton in a pub with a pool cue is a little chilling for sure.
