So it's revealed at the end that MR. SWIFT planned the whole thing because he wanted an excuse to get KAYLA off the team. But why? Because he feared that she wouldn't win? But wouldn't her dad arrange the competition as he always did?

The "rigged" challenge at the beginning was run by Kayla's dad. However, I got the impression that the "Fire and Ice" competiton at the end wasn't. It was more of a national event run independently of the ski lodge...not to mention it was nationally televised!
