If anyone can find info on the real William Haskell....

I would appreciate you sharing it. I would like to know how he ended up?

AFter the third episode they did an overview of some of the characters. Belinda died penniless in Washington State, the constable served in WWI and it said Bill Haskell returned to the Yukon in 1901 and was never seen or heard from since.

So I guess you can speculate and make up your own story about his fate. I was hoping we would have a definitive end for him too. He was a very compelling character, seemingly a true good guy when he could easily have gone the other way, and Richard Madden was just superb in the role.

After third episode? Hmmm, was that not after the last episode? Did the series not end with bill eatin an orange? Confused since in Sweden it was Aires as three longer episodes. I think...

The show on DVD is broken into 3 parts on two discs. The end was after part 3 on the discs.

The sad fact is that Bill Haskell likely returned in 1901 to see Belinda(why on Earth would he return there idk) and met a quick death, could have been anything that killed him. People don't tend to just fall off the face of the Earth with no record of them unless they're dead.

The above is a link to an online copy of Bill Haskell's "Two Years in the Klondike", on which the series is based. Such an interesting read and as others have mentioned not at all how the show was portrayed.

and I am, after all, me.

Because the show was not based on that at all but on the book by Charlotte Gray "Gold Diggers: Striking It Rich in the Klondike " which includes Haskell.

Actually, the line in the end that Haskell returned and died is a lie. Maybe they added it for dramatic effect or something, but it's not based on history.

The curious historical fact is that nothing is known of Haskell after 1898 when he published that book. People have searched and found nothing. So it's not known how long he lived after that, what he did or when he died. What that book covers until 1898 is all we know.

Among other places the fact that the fate of Haskell is a mystery is also mentioned here - http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/01/22/klondike-richard-madden-ending/ - as Charlotte Gray had apparently gone to great lenghts to find out more about Haskell, but had no luck.
