Yes, the acting is lackadaisical. Yes, the CGI effects are bad. The practical effects are worse. And no, that's not a janitor the forced into a role, it's really Richard Grieco.
But it at least has a consistent story that makes sense even with poorly delivered exposition. And the camo babe is hot.
The jungle backdrop alone is worth owning this for me. It's an extremely bad movie technically - in every way - but as another reviewer mentioned it truly does have heart. In the end I really enjoyed the journey. I think Lake Placid was almost equally as bad, but look at the positive feedback that movie generated. Same with Starship Troopers, Pitch Black, etc etc etc. AE is in the same vein as those, just with much poorer special effects and yes, acting. I still enjoyed watching these amateurs give their all, they came together in a bad way to make something actually pretty cool. Somehow.
