Overly Religious Blind Obsessed Parents = Troubled Kids.

I laugh my ass off at these idiots every week. These brainwashed nuts. They can't go to the bathroom without asking God what he thinks about it. They have to pray on everything!!! To be that controlled and obsessed with something. That would suck. I'm so glad i'm not religious at all. To think what it must be like to always be on edge your whole life, always stressing on whether you're a good enough person, doing the right thing, setting an example, church church church, all - the- time! I would scream if I had that kind of smothered life. And for what? The "idea" that you might go to a "happy place" when you die. These people are crazy for the most part. Just mentally crazy.

You can see how their religious brainwashing of their kids is doing nothing but backfiring on them. When you push a teenager to do what you want with their lives, you get a natural reaction and it's called REBELLION. But when you push religious living to the extreme on them and you get the rebellion, they tend to rebel against whatever is controlling them. And they will rebel against the church. Teryn "Kolby's sister" has gotten to that point to a degree. She doesn't want to even go to church all the time like the rest of the more brainwashed girls do. Her husband is a preacher's son also, and he's avoiding going constantly too. They don't want their child in church. They told their parents they wanted to be the one's to take their daughter, but it's not just that because they don't take her. It's their decision and they DON'T take her. They think she's too young. Even though their are tons of youth groups and things in the church. They clearly have childhood issues with all the brainwashing and cramming religion into their lives. Teryn even spoke how much she hated doing the year of ministry their father wants them to do. They pushed too hard. They over did it. The parents are the one's that are pushing it too much that they are alienating their kids from the church. Even Kolby doesn't want to do some of the religious crap her mother and father want her to do. The parent's religious obsession is too much with these families.

This new girl Megan. Her father lost his job so he's saying God wants him to do what exactly.... Play guitar for the local congregation full time, and sit on his lazy ass and not make the money he needs to provide for his family. So much so he's now going to sell the family home and uproot his daughter? Well Gee Wiz Dad, how's that workin out for ya? I'll tell ya. You've got a son who's a drug addict and in rehab. And a daughter that's drinking, doing drugs, and sneaking out all the time. Hey, Maybe it's YOU? Have you thought that maybe two out of two times now you're the one that's screwin up your kids? So break it down to understand the problem. What are you doing so differently as a parent that other parent's aren't doing? Give it a minute. Try and put a finger on it. How are you so different from other parent's? Hey maybe it's your constant brainwashing and God this and God that and church church church church, Bible bible bible. Get a real job. One that actually pays the bills. And go to church on SUNDAY. Preach on SUNDAY. And stop forcing your daughter to be a preacher just like you. She has her own life and her own interests and she didn't ask to be a preacher or to have a position to set an example of how to look to a whole church full of followers. Teens have enough preasures in life just being teens. They don't need to be little preachers.

And why do you think thesse girls sit and roll their eyes every time their parents sit and start praying for them to have guidance? Why do they sit and look at their parents like they're nuts while praying to God to give them some direction? It's because they're beginning to feel like all this religious crap is stupid and done to death. Played out. Controlling. Manipulative.

The last thing a teenager wants to feel is controlled. And there is nothing more controlling than overly religious people. Why do you think that last girl went out and got pregnant? It never fails. You keep it up and all of these parents are gonna push their daughters, right into bed with a boy, right into the arms of the drug dealers and the pimps, right out the door, and right out of the church.

And I'm laughing my ass off watching them screw up every week.

I LOVE being an Atheist!!!!!!!! i feel so sorry for these crazy people. No matter what they do it'll never be good enough for God. lol

Is it just coincidence that people who are raised in the U.S. tend to be Christians and people who are raised in India tend to be Hindus, etc.? There is no debating the fact that the community you are raised in tends to determine what religion you ascribe to. The reason for that is obvious. All religions recommend teaching children the principles of (their) true religion. They know that by doing so, you indoctrinate children. We can call this brainwashing.

Does that mean these people are crazy? No, even though some of their ideas might be crazy. Actually they are victims. Rather than make fun of them, perhaps we should have compassion for them. You wrote:

I agree with you. But these girls are still most likely to describe themselves as Christians throughout their lives. Because the indoctrination works. Maybe we should be feel sorry for them because they may never know if their belief systems are truly their own.

Give credit to Teryn for standing up for her parental rights. And because she understands that no three-year-old can truly understand the concept of God or the Christian principles that come with the stories young children are told. But there is still a good chance that in a few years she will take her child to church before she is able to make her own decisions. I contend that a parent who wants his child to become a thinking adult will teach that child critical thinking and encourage him to challenge all concepts.

I also believe that most people who commit to a denomination will understand that concept but reject it anyway. In truth, they do not want a child that thinks objectively. They want a child committed to their, the parents', version of God, because they have been convinced that's the right way to be. Sad but true.

Anyway, the parents on this show really are trying to do what they believe is right. And they really do care about their children. I prefer not to laugh at them, but to wish them the best. Even though many such people try their best to impose their ideas on me and the rest of society.
