If they had done it after X-Men in 2000 it probably would have done fine


That's when superhero movies really took off again (no pun intended) after Burton's own early 90's Batman boom, and it would have been far enough away from the string of bombs the doc. mentions Warners had around '97-'98 for the studio to have confidence in the project again (and we would never have gotten the lifeless Bryan Singer or Zack Snyder versions!)

According to some, "Batman & Robin" killed this film! The budget ended up going to Will Smith's, "Wild, Wild West!" They worked on it for years; so strange to just drop it, but it happens all the time! A 90's Fantastic Four movie never saw the light of day! Too weird; esp. with Cage as Superman! He looked about as odd as the director, Tim Burton! ;-)
