John Mulaney deserves better than this
He's a hilarious guy. He doesnt deserve to be restricted in FOX's clutches in order to star in a sitcom.
He should have his own show with Nick Kroll entitled "Oh, Hello"

No, he's not that funny and he's a terrible actor. He was at SNL long enough to learn how to judge basic acting talent, and should have known that he just didn't have the chops to star in a sitcom. But the worst of it was the initially terrible writing, which was completely unforgiveable given Mulaney's writing background. He hung himself. Leave him hanging as a warning to comedy writers who think they can act.
The shame of it is that Nasim has been getting better and better with each new episode, but no one is watching now that they've moved the remaining episodes to air at 7:30.
Have you seen his standup special on netflix? It's hilarious. I do agree his acting is terrible, but good writing is what I look for more in a sitcom and the show does not have it. Which again is weird because Mulaney definitely is funny when he wants to be.

His standup special is one of the better ones I've seen.
I would put New in Town as the best one I've seen in the past 5 years. Probably even in my Top 10 of all time. share
I have seen Mulaney's stand-up, and he's not that funny. He was a good sketch writer on SNL, and that's about the limit of his talents. The unforgivable aspect is that they (including Lorne Michaels) put together a sitcom starring a television writer and then started out with awful scripts. Frankly, Mulaney has hoist himself by his own petard.
share^This. Mulaney's strong suit is writing. There's no way jokes as awful as the show forced out should have ever happened.
If you buy a ticket for a remake, you are the problem, not Hollywood.
