Why Was Zachary so Ugly?

It bothered me how much better looking Dylan was than Zach and he was the sweet one too.

Those boys didn't look white though. They looked mestizo

I also wondered that. I even said to myself, I bet he is the one named Damatarian or whatever his name is. But nope, it turned out the brother with more swag had the lame name.

Dartanian, was the name of one of the Musketeers.

reply

Oh I see. I didn't know that. I had never heard of that name before.

Your comment is creepy on multiple levels, primarily having a tinge of pedophilia.

Not very original, but 'We accept the love we think we deserve.' Brilliant.

Not at all.

I just couldn't stand the twin that played Zach.

I couldn't stand the movie at all now that I think about it

If Dylan and Cole Sprouse are to go by, twins tend to fulfill the role of the quirky one and the cool one. It's like one of them has to be trashier than the other. It's like what tvtropes says as 'Red Oni, Blue Oni'. Dylan/Zach was the red oni while Cole was the blue oni. Similarly, Dartanian/Zach is the red oni in this one while Robert/Dylan was the blue oni.

Likewise, Dylan Sprouse was fatter and less better looking than Cole Sprouse. Nowadays, Dylan doesn't look that bad but still not quite at Cole's level.

For a girl's example, there's Brie and Nikki Bella from WWE. Brie is more high strung than Nikki and less prettier while Nikki gets the title and accolades. Despite this, Brie might have gotten a better deal with her spouse though this is pretty relative. Status-wise, Nikki gets the better deal (John Cena) but character-wise, Brie might score better (Daniel Bryan)

Also, To me, Dylan and Zach seem to reference Zach and Cody. The fact that they only reference Dylan Sprouse's real and character names shows that the twins are probably supposed to be like how Dylan/Zach is and really unlike Cole/Cody. In the Dylan/Cole dynamics, Cole is portrayed as a completely perfect kid while Robert/Dylan in this movie does seem to contain hatred in his heart but is wiser and more 'real' (hence, having Dylan Sprouse's real name). Whereas Dartanian/Zach is more scripted and as obnoxious as Zach the character in Zach/Cody.

I might be over-analyzing all this and I know the names are pretty confusing but still, I feel like calling Dartanian/Zach ugly is a bit harsh. I think there are other factors that make him less likable than Robert/Dylan that are more than just physical appearances. I think one of the great things about this movie that is done better than the first one is that they picked the right kid to commit the murders.

Seriously, why didn't the long-haired boy in the first movie kill the family? The girl was creepy and unlikable but having the kid who had night terrors got murdered seemed to be a lost opportunity. Like, really? Just like that? Just kill the more interesting kid? At the very least, they could have made him fight for his life a little and failing but nope. Not that I hate the first movie, I just feel like the night terror thing could have turned into something interesting. [/endrant]
