Am I the only one who thought this method of killing was pretty stupid? A rat wouldn't be strong enough to burrow through a human body, moreover to do it fast enough to escape being burnt in a metal bowl. If I were them, since it was a church I think crucifixion sounds more adequate. Granted, that's semi-similar to the scarecrow endings of this movie. Just an idea.

Milo's method of killing is actually a torture method they used in the middle ages.

Because it scratched. It wouldn't be able to dig all the way through, and then out.

You'd be surprised at the type of stuff rodents (rats, squirrels) can gnaw through with their teeth. Besides, the human body is pretty fragile and a rodent burrowing through the abdomen and out the side (no huge bones in the way) isn't hard to buy.

Milo was a weird friggin kid to come up with that kill method.

This isn't the first movie that has used rats to torture or kill in this method.

Exactly, it reminds me of the movie Catch 22.
