'We're having a baby!"

*whole family goes wild*

Why is having a baby always seen as such a wildly joyous event?!
They just got married, for crying out loud. They're too young.

Its nice I guess, but people in films always act like they won the lottery!

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.

Having a baby ideally should be a wildly joyous event. My family was overjoyed when they found out I was pregnant even though we weren't married that long. How old were the people in this movie supposed to be?

Edit: my question is why they were getting a sonogram that early? Many insurance companies won't pay for that at 7 weeks. It's not medically necessary and there is basically nothing to see. You can listen to the heartbeat but you don't need an ultrasound for that.

That hexagon-face bitch, she's so passive-aggressive.

Zach Gilford was 31 when the movie was filmed. Allison Miller was 27 or 28. I'm pretty sure Sam and Zach's characters are supposed to be in their mid-20s at least. That's not "too young" to have a baby.

As far as the family acting joyous: (a) They're taking their cue from the couple, who are presenting it as a happy surprise; and (b) what are they supposed to do? Act horrified and tell her to have an abortion?

I can't explain why the tone of this comment made me LOL.

8 months later they seem to regret having the kid and now they aren't so happy anymore lol! 

Funny how you think your OPINION is fact. How narcissistic and self entitled. Also, I'm thinking your quite young as your ignorance is showing. Many people, especially family members get REALLY happy over pregnancies, as there are some people that can't have kids. Maybe think about other people's points of view before you spout off about things like this.

It's fairly standard for everyone to be joyful at the news of a baby wherever the relationship is stable or societally sanctioned and 'celebrated' itself, by those same friends and family.

It's only when circumstances aren't acceptable by the couple or the people in their lives that the reaction instead is "oh sh!t."
