A couple issues...

As if this film isn't full of bull anyway, these are a few of the major issues I had:
1. The husband was a complete idiot. Not only did he get in the car of a shady foreigner claiming to be a taxi driver, but he proceeded to go in a sketchy building in a secluded part of town and let his wife go in first.
2. After seeing men lurking around their house, realizing the taxi driver was at the church and witnessing the creepy ritual performed on his wife, he thought it was a good idea to leave his not well, violent, pregnant wife alone in the house with his young sister (I think?) while he investigated.
3. He went UNARMED. I'm not saying he should've busted in w/ a gun, but at least take a knife, hammer or something to defend yourself with.
4. Even when he witnessed his wife performing some creepy ritual from a hidden camera while next door, he was more concerned about filming the men than actually doing something to help his wife.

So agreed. He was likeable enough, but not exactly packing much brain juice.

Yeah, the script made the husband (and wife) do some idiotic things. I mean has he never seen any movies with tourists abroad? lol I understand they are young and naive, but come on! I would be on the phone with the Vatican half-way through the film. By the way, what happened with the first (female) doctor? We never get an explanation. The movie was very well made with some awesome special effects but the script needed to be stronger, more realistic. The film should have delved deeper into the Biblical explanation of what we were seeing. As is, it felt slight and shallow. So the baby was the Anti-Christ? Some people may not understand that. And how was the mother chosen? What did the fortune teller mean? I gave it a 6 for the acting and effects.

I agree with all of your plot holes. I know of no one that would have gotten out of that taxi-except maybe to hop in another taxi.

The only thing I disagree with is your rating. It's a rare movie that can stick in my head for such a long time after having viewed it. And this movie did. Mostly because it annoyed me-but not completely. I found myself thinking of creepy things days after having watched it. So I gave it an 8.

I wonder if it stayed on anyone else's mind?

Oh my god, please learn the definition of a plot hole.

I think I can save you. But who's going to save me?

reply

Yes, it stuck with me for quite awhile.

By the way, what happened with the first (female) doctor? We never get an explanation.

From the way that *other* doctor commented "Um, I don't think she's going to be able to come back", I gathered that they murdered her.

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.

I totally agree with all your points, OP.

OMFG. This guy is a moron, but he's a post-feminist, non-judgmental, non-controlling moron. He's a doormat. I thought that's what you ladies wanted. And you're pitching a fit because he's not aggressive or controlling enough in certain situations?? How about instead of bitching at guys like this, you ladies get together and draw up rules of conduct for men to follow? Maybe then, you'll finally be happy with what guys do.

Seriously, can you actually love anyone when you judge them so harshly over the dumbest sh!t??

Get off your soapbox while I play you a tune on the tiniest violin.

Right away when they both were perfectly fine with catching a random shady cab driver's cab to an unknown destination in a 3rd world location, I thought they were BOTH idiots! Seriously, who does that, when stuff like that crops up in the news often enough to enter most people's 'dont do this' list?

But I guess there wouldn't be a story if they hadn't gone willingly.
