Hello, I plan on seeing the film once I have some time but i'm very curious as to how Jon Stewart performed as a Director. Leave some reviews/reflections/criticisms etc etc in the comments section ! :D
Hmmm I don't necessarily agree about the lack of interesting story elements but in terms of his Direction, I guess I will still have to wait and see it for myself. Any other thoughts from people?
Your eloquence is staggering. You bothered to call Stewart's work 'amateurish' and yet have no interest in substantiating the claim. Disengaged irony seems to be your thing. Bravo.

You took the time to call someone 'amateurish,' but refuse to substantiate the claim. That pretty much puts you in the 'meaningless' category. Gibberish and put-downs. . that's your thing. Got it.

Stewart's direction is credible. My only criticism is of the exterior 'moving shots' - panning too fast, hand held cameras scenes were jerky. Steward got great performances from his actors.
On another thread someone complained about the 'special effects'. Personally, I liked them and thought them clever.
Ha this is what i'm looking for! So would you say that aspect of the cinematography didn't bode well with you or more so that it failed in general? I mean he did have a great cast to work with to begin with and since the directors most frontal job is to evoke effective performances from his actors, this is great news.
I wouldn't say that the cinematography was a total fail - it just wasn't polished and seasoned. Some of the other responses that you received are unbelievably rude and obnoxious . . . must be trolls. I also see that a number of people have given the film a rating of 1 - which is ludicrous.
Some of those exterior moving shots were shot by Maziar Bahari back in 2009. I'm not sure if those are the shots you're referring to, but Stewart used some of the material Bahari shot at the time. I don't know if that's what you're referring to, but that could explain the jerkiness of some of the shots.
If those are the shots you're talking about, it still leaves us open to question the decision to use that footage. Maybe it would have been better for Stewart to just re-stage the whole scene as opposed to blending his work with that primary source material, but I liked it the way it was.
Fantastic movie, as good as anticipated. Shows how transparent everyone in the age of the Internet is, for all regimes world-wide. We need much more data protection in the digital age - in order to enhance those fighting for freedom using these new forms of communication. You are not alone!

Couldn't agree more. Jon Stewart did a fantastic job on this film.
