Too much like Leverage

Although they have to try hard to be scientific and work the manic angle. Leverage was just fun, this is painful to watch.

I loved Leverage. I watched every episode of that and was sad to see it go. But Leverage was more popcorn comedy with the only serious bit being the "cause" they were fighting for each week. It was to the caper genre as the A-Team was to the action genre. I love A-Team too but each week was a new cause to fight for and there wasn't much seriousness to it or any real major thread of a story between the episodes beyond Deker (sp?) chasing them. Leverage took it a step beyond that with a sub plot that carried through a season, but the overall show was light hearted and corny... again like A-Team.

Mind Games on the other hand is darker, with an onions worth of layers to the overall sub plot, the continuity between episodes (they referenced an earlier episode's solution in the last episode) in addition to at least on major side story that is threaded through all of the episodes. The end result for me was a more well thought out "world" for these characters to live in.

Leverage will always be one of my favorite shows. It's sad that Mind Games didn't get to survive and thrive. I think maybe it would have done better on USA, FX, A&E or something else. I think once the show hits Netflix it may get a cult following like Endgame did. Heck Endgame almost came back from the dead with a second season due to the new fans on Netflix... and that was a hidden gem on a canadian channel (Showcase) that most Americans have never heard of.

If this were really "too much like Leverage," I would be enjoying it. I barely made it through the Pilot, but made myself watch Ep2, because sometimes Pilots are rough. But I just had to turn it off. Soooo hard to watch; it makes me anxious.

I love Leverage more than life, and I hate that it only lasted 5 seasons. I really wanted to like Mind Games... but I just don't. :-/ Sorry Christian Slater.
