9.2 out of 10? Are you joking?

PLOT SPOILER - Until Dawn's tension is ruined by the plot twist which Supermassive already made forseeable because they said 'Everyone can survive'. Plus the deliberately misleading 'Who do you want to survive?’ where your answer is instead given over the switch that would lead to their death is annoying no choice misdirection. The killer/s is then an uninteresting formality. Using deliberately cliched events in the belief that you're being postmodernist doesn't necessarily make your handling of it very good. How highly you score this game will probably depend less upon the half cooked use of the cabin environment and QTEs, and more on your relationship to how you try to press the emotional triggers of its characters. Even so, this doesn't reach the storytelling heights of Beyond Two Souls nor the QTE heights of Heavy Rain. Until Dawn gets no more than a 6 or 6.5 from me for what it could have been instead of the Dragon's Lair thing it is.
