How can they go from such a great season last year( with an amazing twist that had people talking for so long) to THIS crap about Liz's dad?

Almost feels to me like they are making a lot of the same mistakes that trapped Lost in its own nets. I don't get the sense that even the writers have made up their mind about what the deal is between Red and Liz, and they are introducing more questions they haven't came up with the answers to. Trying too hard it seems.
I'm so hip I have trouble seeing over my pelvis.
I don't like Kirk either, but maybe he will end up giving us more backstory on Red. There are not many people that know Red's past or his secrets, and maybe Kirk knows something(and maybe that's why Red was so anxious to kill him.)
It's all building up to some big reveal, so I guess we have to be patient.
