Why keep it from her

Anyone adopted has the propensity to be curious about their birth parents. By keeping the info from her, after years of working together, and knowing how much trouble she gets into from trying to find out, why doesn't he just tell her so she can be prepared enough to defend herself? I'm only on season 2 finale but it doesn't seem like keeping her in the dark is conducive to her safety.

That's my biggest frustration and I suppose hers. I imagine that's part of the reason for her constantly changing attitude towards Red. If she is truly in some kind of danger she needs to know what's she's up against. I think I said this on another thread, but unless he's planning to live until he's killed off all those that mean to do her harm then she needs to be aware so she can be pro-active. What ever has put her in danger happened over 20 years ago and if he hasn't ended it now he never will. The more I watch and see his confidants continue to tell him she needs to know the truth I'm beginning to think it has more to do with him than protecting her. It seems like whatever the real truth is must be so bad that he has a fear that she might finally just walk away from him and cut him out of her life completely. I did notice in season 2 when she found out about Tom and she told him she was done with him he became extremely upset.

I'm not sure what could be so horrible that Liz would finally abandon once and for all. She's forgiven him for such things as apparently framing Tom in early season 1, killing her adoptive father, and inserting Tom in her life in the first place. If she can forgive all this, I'm not sure what's left at this point.

I'm thinking maybe in his mind he thinks it is. Denver and Mr. Kaplan have kindly urged him to tell her so I'm assuming they feel it's something that she can forgive, but maybe it's his guilt that has him believing it's so bad. When she gave away the money to the harbor masters daughter he mentioned something about doing to assuage her guilt that seemed to possibly reference their relationship.

I agree, and frankly, I can't believe that they've dragged that whole issue of who her father is (and isn't) into a FOURTH season. It's perhaps the one thing that aggravates me most about the show to the point that I no longer rush to see it anymore. Add to that the fact that Red just shot Mr. Kaplan in the previous episode and I'm now quickly losing interest in the show. I didn't even bother to watch tonight's episode. I MIGHT watch it sometime early next week.

He did??? I don't remember that. I thought they were both in an auto accident. Did I miss an episode?

Yes, you missed Mato last week. Don't read the board until you watch it.
