How the hell is Agent Bresler still alive?

I've heard of cats having nine lives, but this guy beats them all. He's been shot, beaten around the head, choked out, been involved in multiple car crashes, been throttled by a giant, and developed a serious painkiller addiction ... and I've barely started Season 2!

His insurance premiums must be through the roof.

Frank Spotnitz, executive producer and writer for The X-Files once said, "...no one really dies in The X-Files". I think the same may be true for The Blacklist.

reply

that was Chris Carter who said it.

reply

I've seen it attributed to both. They may have each said it at different times.

reply

Carter said it first in S1, later uncle Frank used it too, as others from TXF universe.

What about Tom? he has been stabbed, shot in the gut, tortured for like a million time then shot again. he is the Super Tom I guess!

I call Ressler, "Mr. Bill." For those old enough to recall, "Oh, no! Mr. Bill!" LOL

Or, Mr. Magoo.

Ressler is treated like a rag doll getting tossed around. I went into hysterics during that scene in which he jumped onto the back of a truck and got swung around.

I don't watch South Park but I imagine Ressler would be Kenny. LOL

On a serious note...

Ressler was saved when Red did some impromptu surgery on his leg. He was saved from the obsessive distraction of seeking vengeance when Red did the dirty for him and sent him a boxed gift and then Ressler could concentrate on healing his addiction.

Liz supported Ressler's efforts to work out his addiction without losing his job by covering for him.

Tom saved Ressler from losing his boy scout soul when he in a very timely manner reminded him that he was his father's son, so he didn't become a common murderer by killing Matias.

Aram helps Ressler by putting limits on his aggression... towards Navabi for example. When Ressler goes all gung ho, Aram reminds him there are professional limits and standards to be met.

Navabi is a crack shot and has saved his bacon repeatedly with her fine work.

Cooper has mentored Ressler and helped him learn about the gray areas. Good people do bad things and bad people do good things. Life's more than a rule book.

Ressler gets by with a little help from his friends.

Amazing. Great minds think alike. I thought I was the only one who always thought "oh no, Mr. Bill" when Ressler is getting abused. All the way back when Ressler got his butt kicked by Gina, I was thinking he seemed like Mr. Bill.

I think that some of the funniest moments have been between Red and Ressler. While Red is witty it's been the scenes with Ressler that I found to be comic relief in this desperate story.

The actor, Diego, has done a great job in his depiction of Ressler. I think it shows great range that he handles scenes like the one with Audrey, or playing dummy in the woods (terrifying) and then he can be snarky with Red and still jump off of tall buildings. I do laugh at Ressler a lot and I hope the writers keep letting him play "Mr. Bill." :)
