So who else wanted to see the Haddington son get his comeuppance

My first thought when the Haddington's embraced their grandson and met his abandoned mother was "Now they'll go find their son and give him a thrashing for being a jerkface toad".

Call me mean-spirited but I think the story would have worked a little better if we learned the Haddington's son perished on his way to meet his Baron's daughter bride. He has an affair with an employee, gets her pregnant then has her tossed out into the street when she's 6-7 months pregnant all because he found some rich man's daughter to marry? What a toad!

Then to make things worse he drops in on his parents, who he hasn't seen in so long his employees don't even know them, and tells them that "one day" he'll introduce them to his future bride.

The guy was an idiot who really needed an unhappy end. I know it is more historically accurate to have him continue on like the Robber Barons of the time. They got their due decades later.
