Ignore the critics

I will admit I went to see this movie only for Samantha Barks. But after actually seeing it, it turned out to be a a really nice christmas movie. Nothing spectacular but it gives you that warm fuzzy Christmassy feeling that everyone likes this time of year. The cast was great (even though I would've much preferred hearing Samantha sing Miracle Hymn) and played their parts well. It had a wonderful score in the background and a very Christmassy feel to it. I personally didn't think it was overwhelmingly "Christian" either... Long story short, if you like old fashioned christmas movies, go see it!

I agree with the critics.....this movie is pure drivel.

Thanks for the honest review. Why are liberals such haters? I don't get it.

reply

They hate everything including themselves.

I am as liberal as they come..and I love this movie. So john-r-reve, you can't judge all of us by a few. I could make the same remark you made about CON-servatives, but I'm not going to...

I found it to be a nice, charming and uplifting movie. Is it the greatest movie I ever saw? No, but its also something positive to be shared among Christians I felt. I wasn't surprised though that the usual suspects among "Christian" film critics that I have a low opinion of took it upon themselves to hate on this film in their typically snarky fashion. These are the same people who had nicer things to say about "Sex And The City" or the ridiculous Noah movie and who generally prefer to be loved by the secular elite than say a nice thing about anything that will be loved by the audience they have a condescending low opinion of.

I too only saw it for Samantha and I enjoyed it quite alot. It wasnt overly preachy, was just a nice simple story that was entertaining.

Ignore the critics and the audience?

What audience? This movie had such limited release in theaters it had no chance to attract an audience. Damn shame because it's a charming historical.

reply

Yes. I had wanted to see it for some time and finally find a place that had it. It is a nice little Film.
