This movie was lacking a crucial element.... JESUS

I wish they could have spoken about Jesus, or faith at least. It would have added more to this story.

Maybe replace the story about climbing the tree with Jesus. That would have been good.

What about Allah?

What about him? Figment of your imagination.

No more so than Jesus, I’m sure that was the point.

Why?

reply

Yes. Completely unrealistic that they are going to talk about end times but not even mention His name one single time.

Glad I quit netflix shortly after this crappy production.

There was a brief mention of various religions throughout history having the 'end times' and various end of the world scenarios. I spent a good chunk of the early film thinking it was probably the rapture or something going on, especially when Lydia muttered about her mum leaving. Given the film was set in the still largely Christian USA, it was surprising there was no specific mention of Jesus, Christianity, faith, heaven, or that the event could have been religious/spiritual/biblical in nature.
On the other hand this is Netflix, and I'm pretty sure woke culture likes to pretend Christianity doesn't exist because it's an evil white person religion or something, unlike the religion of peace. Far better to force tired woke stereotypes of the brave smart gay asian dude, the self-proclaimed asshole quoting Trump, and the perfect Marty Stu (or whatever the male version of Mary Sue is) black dude who does everything right, always saves the day, and naturally is the love interest for the white female protagonist.
It's all so tiresome...
