Was it implied that the blind had mamed themselves?

I thought I saw a few blind kids. Maybe their parents had blinded them to ensure their safety. Or did it just so happen that a disproportionate amount of survivors were already blind?

What do you mean? Of course all blind survived as they could not be hurt by what ever those beings were... I would assume that almost all blind people survived except some that were killed when the chaos started...

I’m curious if they blinded themselves dilberatley to avoid seeing the creatures. I think a subtle implication the survivor-children had been blinded by their parents would add some nice texture to the conditions everyone suffered through

Fair enough... Some posters who have read the book say that in the book some people blind themselves to be able to survive... That is not really touched upon in the movie...

In the book, they blind themselves on purpose. They didn't specify here.
