That’s my take on it anyways they said the people escape the mental institution so the “creature” makes u want to kill yourself and see old loved ones that past on, people in mental institutions most want to kill themself because they see different then sane people so the affect of the “creature” is what they actually wanted to see which makes them SANE in their own minds, and maybe the “creature” has control of them. Idk
