Questions (spoilers)

One question I have is after the brother caught on film the first blue lights under his sister's door, how come this was never discussed? It was like it did not even happen.

Other question is there seems to be a view that summer fling gal knew what was going on. However, the baby was "abducted" back in their home town. They were only on vacation at the cabin. Why would the people of the cabin town know anything?

I thought this movie was way drawn out and after the first blue lights were never discussed, lost its credibility. But, someone please tell me I was just not paying good enough attention and missed a major plot point...lol.

Your attention span is fine. The movie was made up of a series of aborted arcs.

Manbearpig comes from the genitals of Mr. and Mrs. Manbearpig.

when the blue light was seen under the door, the aliens erased all
on their memories, missing time. the fact that it wasnt mentioned
was a clue to this. there would be no way on a found footage type movie
to let the viewer in on this. If you are into reading or watching any
abduction stuff, you would have automatically just think of it yourself.
most people probably wouldn't think of it, though.

again, this is typical for abduction cases, and a common trope, but
a secluded vacation house is a place where abductees get taken the
most. it is implied that the girl from the area knows, along with
the townsfolk, that strange stuff happens in those woods, and
she is clearly freaked out about it.

I don't believe in these "aliens" like this, but as a young kid,
I used to read every book on ufos and alien abduction that there
was, so watching this movie was probably easier for me, like for
my imagination to fill any plot holes or gaps that others might
not be able to.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your response. But even if their memories were erased, wouldn't they try to figure out what happened when the blue light was on. The aliens did not erase the tape or we would not have seen the blue.

Yes, you are right, I thought of that, but, through
suspension of disbelief(very little really), I figured that
most people don't play back everything they record. Plus,
since the memory was erased, he wouldn't even think to look
at it.

basically you have to think of it this way, the aliens
got what they wanted, but messed up in the fact that
they did not get the camera. They might not even think
on that level. On the other hand, take a movie like,
"the forgotten", with Julianne Moore, those aliens think
of everything, like all of it.... but... in the end...
they went over the wall, but didn't take off the kids
drawings underneath, and she got her proof, to show
she wasnt crazy. but all the big stuff, I mean, they
like had to erase about 50-100 people, and the ones
they didn't get they had to threaten....

Thanks Michael.

I will break down and watch this again.

They never discussed the aliens and the blue lights and other strange events because it was so devastatingly incomprehensible to them that they all blocked it out of their consciousness. It's a normal psychological reaction called dissociation. Dissociation can be complete, in which case the trauma is totally forgotten.

This psychological element actually was the best thing in this film imo.

If somebody encountered a real alien, it's probable that they would dissociate it.

Not the guy from Ancient Aliens. LOL.
