Bridge

Can anyone tell me where the bridge is located? Looks too big to be on a river, unless it's a really wide one.

Ships have to be able to pass under it to get to the port

I'm not sure why my whole answer didn't show up! Anyway, it is the Cooper River bridge in Charleston, SC. It is so big because ships have to be able to pass under it to get to the port of Charleston.

Thanks, it's such a beautiful bridge. I didn't realize they had rivers that wide in Charleston. When I first saw the bridge on the show, it reminded me a bit of the new section of the San Francisco Bay Bridge. I live in CA., and hadn't seen a another design quite like the Bay Bridge, until the show was aired. Of course your bridge has two towers. How ironic that your old bridge looks like the old section of SF Bay Bridge now being dismantled. I guess that type of bridge were the norm when they were built. Thanks again for the info.

The state of SC has an enormous number of political, educational and cultural problems...but it's absolutely gorgeous. The beaches, the marshes, the swamps, the gardens, the rivers around Charleston are incredible. Every time I get fed up with it and swear I'm moving to a another state, I end up driving over one of our bridges and change my mind.
