did you really watch this show expecting something different?

reply

Everyone does, if they expect to win.

reply

Ally McBeal does, that's who ;)

I never apologize, Lisa. I'm sorry, but that's just the way I am. Homer Simpson

None of the female lawyers on Law and Order ever went to court dressed like that!

I know!

Well ... maybe Angie Harmon blurred the lines, just a little, 'cause she was a super-model,
but on the whole - nope. Adam Schiff woulda had fits.

God I miss that show!!! *sigh*

reply

Yep - Law & Order is the best! ESPECIALLY the latter seasons with Linus Roache, and the new detectives...

They shoulda kept it instead of SVU!!!

The "original" L&O was always my favorite, but I love love LOVED D'Onofrio in Criminal Intent, and
I also enjoyed the special chemistry between Goren and Eames. But D'Onofrio, oh MAN. Talk about
chewing up the scenery!

Sam Waterston was always my fave DA, but yeah - Linus Roache is way cool, and I had absolutely
NO idea he was a Brit, until I saw him in some BBC productions and then checked him out on IMDb.

SVU was okay; I watched it in the beginning, but not so much any more.

Did you ever see Law & Order: UK? I actually caught that a few times on On Demand
(before I cheaped out on my Comcast package) and it was pretty good, I enjoyed it.
I don't know if it's still around, though.

Watched a few episodes - intelligent show - but doesn't quite do it for me :)

reply

I always got a chuckle out of the intro, where they say something to the effect
that the police 'better have balls, because they don't carry guns'.

Or am I thinking of something else???

reply

it's not always what you wear, but how you wear it. She would be "sexy" in anything, I guess. but yeah, a lot of her wardrobe is not corporate.

reply

Do you watch Suits? She's not a criminal lawyer but man Jessica has quite the wardrobe!!

reply

Do you watch Suits?
I always wanted to watch Suits but could never find the schedule, or channel, or network. Do you know the above?

Also, is the Suits series available for download?

Thanks!

http://www.usanetwork.com/suits

Apparently, SUITS airs on USA network (another channel I no longer get, due to um, a limited budget).
New episodes coming this winter. Looks like you may be able to watch some full eps at the website
(see link above) although I haven't tried it myself.

Maybe NetFlix has it? Or HULU, or whatever?

Or you could try one of the various 'Home Shoplifting Networks', if you're savvy in that department.

No female lawyer I know. But then, I think her wardrobe is the director's/writer's shortcut to imply she is not your typical middle-class or upper crust young woman who went to law school but more a girl who came from the 'low class' type and climbed her way up due to her focus and intelligence and determination. But who still, is something of a fish out off the water.

Then again, this is a television show, and one of those guilty pleasure types at that, I do not expect too much reality/seriousness in it.

I am an attorney, pretty and still young, and while I really enjoy dressing sexy, I don't wear clothes like Jamie's in my job; she's a fictional character and in real life we wear mostly suits with above the knee skirts even if it's well above the knee but not mini.
By the way in my country (it's not England) we wear a gown (robe) but luckily no wig, so... Case closed! But I think that American women, lawyers, are more sober and business like than beautiful Jamie. She's great by the way but a little too much for the job!

Sorry English is my second language. Excuse the errors, please.

Hey StrayCat,

Who goes to court dressed like Jamie Sawyer? Only those female lawyers floating around in the minds of producers, directors, or whoever is responsible for titillating a viewing audience, and I think it represents a lack of concern for good production values.

My wife and I like this series very much, but it was always a distraction to see Jamie dressed in suck a dumb way. Her choice of dress reflects on her credibility, and there is no way any reasonable attorney would risk her credibility in the eyes of judge and jury.

Best wishes,
