ROCHEFORT OR GRIMUD

Who's the best? The latter didn't talk much but his actions spoke more than his words..he had little to no patience..dark and mysterious..and above all, very handsome!!!

reply

Pardon my spelling..it's actually Grimaud

reply

Def Grimaud. Much more attractive.

I found Rochefort a more compelling antagonist. But Matthew McNulty is certainly very pleasant to look at!!

reply

I only watched series 3 for Matthew McNulty. Fine actor and gorgeous.

Rochefort deffinitely. He was much better villian. The third season has suffered greatly from the bad writting. In case of villians, they abandoned quality in favor of quantity. None of Season 3 villians was good. Such a shame, because they had really good actors to portray them. With Grimaud in the effort to make him as "mysterious and cool" as possible, they totally forgot to give him any motivation for his actions. Well, to have unreasonable psychopat could work, if the psychopat in question behaves like psychopat and enjoyes the ride, but Grimaud acts like he has some hidden agenda, but that agenda remains hidden and is never uncovered. Which makes Grimaud´s character one dimensional.

reply

Up until the powerbase and plan Grimaud inherited from Rupert Everett's Feron character disintegrated it was insinuated Grimaud wanted to be the power behind the throne of the spoilt brat Gaston, but there seemed to a strong element of the Ledger Joker lurking beneath the surface and he was a particularly psychopathic mercenary who was the product of war rape and brought up into a war zone. He failed to install a new king and that hurt his big brittle ego, so he seemed to want to go ahead and cause as much mass death as possible, annihilate the meddling musketeers, and make thousands if not millions of people feel as weak and powerless as he did as a small boy with his poor mother.

Thank you so much for pointing all this out,@kate_orta- I have the same POV. 👍

Doctor Who: Human beings. You always manage to find the boring alternative, don't you?

reply

I hated both, thanks to the actors who did a great job. Grimaud is better looking though.
