I've never heard of this before

Is it animated or a web series or something?

reply

Not animated but full length episodes, further adventures of Kirk and his crew, obviously played by different actors. It's very nicely done.

Quite a testament to the love Trek fans have of the original characters as they were.

Before the Libtards turned Sulu into a fruitcake and creates a Spock/Uhuru lovefest.

reply

Weirdly, I had never heard of it either before stumbling on to a reference here on these boards. Just watched Ep 1 and thought it was great... a blast of nostalgia created by people with an obvious love for TOS.

It is a full blown Star Trek series. Thanks to the greedy a**holes from Paramount they had to stop after episode 10 (which was a 2 part episode). But this is what Star Trek always was and what id*ots at Paramount and CBS dont understand. Thats why they destroyed Star Trek either forever or at least for the next decades (Star Trek movies already are destroyed and the tv series is only done cause of the gone CEO and will be removed with this season).

So this is it. The last time we will see Star Trek. But .... what a ride it was!!!! :-)

You're not thinking fourth dimensionally Marty!! (oops, wrong franchise)

Consider that if you're young enough, you will someday live in an age where you will have software on your computer that will allow you to deep fake your own Star Trek episodes, and actually use the original sets and original cast as they were when young! Think about that for a minute..

BTW When you watch all 10 eps (last one is a double feature) then you even get a bridge to ST I!!!! Thats so amazing. Thats why this series is complete canon.

I checked out the first episode on YouTube and damn it really does have the look and feel of the original Trek. Though it’s gonna take me a few episodes before I stop chuckling whenever McCoy comes on the scene because I’m thinking “Man he’s really let himself go. Way too many extra trips to the desert table for sure! And also whenever the Mythbusters guy talks I keep thinking he sound like a cross between George Takei and this voiceover guy: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iS9H9WPPDS8.

And I definitely hope that new redhead doctor sticks around.

reply

Yep, that was also a thing for me :-) . The first episodes it distracts you from the episode that thos arent the faces your are familiar with (didnt knew that one actor was from Mythbusters). But then again ..... isnt that a proof of quality how amazing this series is that the only problem you can think about is "McCoys new face is sooo .... new" :-) . But after-1-3 episodes you will forget about that and just realize how amazing this series is. And Mignoga is clearly the second best Kirk ever.Still dont understand how stupid the folks at Paramount are that they dont finance further episodes and simply sell them to fans. The major complain I had about this series was .... that I didnt could buy it on BluRay (indeed I downloaded the iso images offered at the Star Trek Continues website and burned them to BD-R. But this isnt the same thing as buying them retail (beside that they will function longer when they are BD and not BD-R).

Watched a couple more episodes. They got a new doctor McCoy. I hope he stays instead of the one in the first two episodes. This one is a much better choice.

Just watched episode 3. Wow. WOW! Incredible stuff, plus it is a sequel to one of my favorite TOS episodes, with the Alt-universe Evil Enterprise.

But what I am saying? Star Trek Continues *is* part of TOS. Simple as that. Definitely canon, for me.

reply

It's a series of fan films.

I have seen it now. I liked it. It had a lot of the same feel and spirit of the original.
