It is a movie about dragons in WW2. It is not a History Channel special. "P51D's instead of P51A" ? Really ? OCD much ? Relax, get over yourself, and go warm up some popcorn.
Well in ralpgalland's defense, there's a huge difference between the A model and the D model. As an aviation enthusiast myself, it drives me a little 'off' too, if I see such a glaring inaccuracy which would've only taken 5 sec to look up on wikipedia. There are free 3D models of the A model out there.
I'm sure that there are other history minded people that cringe when they see the wrong uniform arrangements and others that...wait, did you say popcorn? Hmmm. Ok gotta go. Thanks guys. :)
Maybe OCD, but remember, this movie is supposedly set during the desert war. The P51D used in the movie, arrived to the european theatre in 1944, long after Rommel had been kicked out of Africa.
It's like making a war movie about the German Blitzkrieg into Poland, and for "coolness" having them drive King Tigers and Panthers. When you could have used the original PZ.1's,2's, 3's and 4's just as easily.
I'm sorry but wtf, you were watching film about *beep* CGI Nazi dragons(or wyverns) controlled by telepathy and you are concerned about minor anachronisms?
If you want to talk about anachronisms, Nazis transported witches in British APC from 60's(FV432). Nothing even remotely like that existed in WW2.
Honestly, I wouldn't care much if they used tiger or panther in invasion of Poland if Polish armed forces deployed mythological creatures.
If universe is that much different from ours, it's quite safe to assume that some of technology might be invented few years earlier.
