Wanda, the official

So let's get this straight. Aunt Wanda not only survived the Holocaust in Poland, but some time soon afterward she entered the communist elite. How is it plausible that the Polish authorities would have granted Aunt Wanda, a single Jewish woman, a position of high power.

Unfortunatly in reality, there were pogroms in Poland even after the war; see "Anti-Jewish violence in Poland, 1944–46" on Wikipedia. At that time, the floodgates opened wide for the remaining survivors' immigration to Israel.

You obviously know nothing about the Polish history. After WW2 quite large amount of Jewish people joined the communist elite. Check for example Jakub Berman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jakub_Berman), Hilary Minc (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hilary_Minc) or Roman Zambrowski (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_Zambrowski), top communist leaders at the time. Some of them also were part of the judiciary. Check the life of Helena Wolinska-Brus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helena_Woli%C5%84ska-Brus), stalinist prosecutor at the time, obviously a model for Wanda figure.
