Could have been better, but Perlman was well cast.

I took a one movie break from watching the Oscar nominated films to check out this comedy called "Moonwalkers". It is based in the 60s, and the drug content lends support of that. Ron Perlman, well cast here, plays a CIA agent who is ordered to get director Stanley Kubrick on board to shoot a fake moon walk if the real astronauts are unable to land for TV. Kubrick just made "2001: A Space Odyssey" and the Guvment wanted to throw him a ton of pesos to pull this off. Well, Perlman didn't exactly get Kubrick, but with the help of failed band manager Rupert Grint he got something...different. There are some laughs, and like I said a lot of drugs, and even some scenes of intense and overly graphic violence. This is hardly to be taken seriously, and it is what it is. Just a spoof of the moon landing, placed in the 60s with the psychedelic surroundings. The opening credits were cool I thought and the violence kind of livened things up when some parts were dragging on and lost their muster. All in all, you can do worse should you decide to rent this when it comes out on DVD. ** 1/2 out of 4 stars.
