Crap. I thought this was based on the book.

I got all excited when I googled "the historian movie" to see if there was talk of one based on the book which I am reading and enjoying. What a let down.

I thought it was based on Kostova's novel as well! What a let down indeed.

I know Kostova sold the film rights to her novel years ago, but I have a feeling we won't see it on the big screen. I do think it would work well on premium cable.

Well I see I'm not the only one waiting to see if this movie will ever be made? It should be a great one with SO many interesting places where it could be filmed! But I too have given up as the book came out 9 years ago. In fact, with all those great places--I wish they would give me the rights if they won't use them & let me film it...if I can just get a backer...Hmm...Woody Allen? All he requires is a cute young thing, Rossi's grad student daughter, maybe?
