The Audie Murphy defense.

There's a lot of posts defending the improbable climax of the film by making comparisons to Audie Murphy's M10 last stand. Trouble is, the film isn't about Audie Murphy (be better if it was)- it's a fictitious account of a tank crew aimed at blugeoning home the 'war is hell' trope. Saying 'Audie Murphy did it' doesn't work as I can't imagine his one-man-army escapade was commonplace- it it was, it wouldn't have become the legendary war-story it is. If a fictitious film is supposed to be realistic, it can't use uncommon events and be without criticism. Just because people survive jumping out out of an airplane at 300ft without a parachute, doesn't mean it's believable in a film- unless it's John Matrix in Commando. He can do that.
