I was gonna pass because the backdoor pilot ("1990-Something") blew chunks, but now I'm curious as to how they're going to explain Lainey teaching classes when in "The Goldbergs" she's engaged to Barry and still has hopes of making it big in the music industry.

I think it was a mistake on ABC's part to green light the show. The backdoor pilot was poorly received and a majority of the audience didn't care for it.

As for the sixth season...no, it's probably not the last, and will keep going until May of 2019. I'm sure we'll hear about a renewal around that time.
