So Beverly was holding a party for Murray, and included his distant relatives, but NOT his father or brother?

Sure, Murray has a love/hate relationship with them, but "meddling Beverly" would have invited them both in an attempt to patch things up.

Let's just say they could afford to hire some bit players. The other two actors, especially Judd Hirsch, would be more expensive.
