Why Get Actors To Tell The Stories?

I loved it when it was random drunken people with a background in history or knowledgeable about a specific piece of history, but with these actors now telling the stories it sort of loses it's authenticity.

Mostly because the average drunk doesn't hold back and isn't afraid of making a fool of themselves, whereas a celeb or actor will either hold back because they don't want to appear like a vomiting lush or act as if they are drunk when they probably are just a little buzzed.

Like Natasha Leggero. I just really didn't buy it.
It just makes the whole thing sort of dubious.
I can definitely tell some of them are just hamming it up for the camera.

I think it's to mainly draw viewers. Also, it helps that the actors can tell a funny story without being obnoxious, unlike regular drunk people tend be.

For the record, it was always actors/comedians/or writers narrarting.

"The internet is overflowing with intelligent, astute, and articulate people. No, really, it is."

What bits are you referring to? As far as I know every story teller, including those on Funny or Die, were comedians, writers, or people involved in the entertainment industry in some way.

I've seen a number of comedians make total fools of them on this show, and some have vomited, gone the bathroom outside, or completely collapsed. I thought Natasha did a great job.

If you're watching Drunk History to get a history lesson with "authenticity" then you're going to be disappointed every single time. It's not an educational show. Part of why it's so funny is seeing a someone with an average education try to explain something while drunk, like watching somebody try to give a book report after hitting the bar.

Just check your own avatar. It's the result when you let non-professionals mess with things they don't understand.

I don't see anything funny about it, actors acting drunk, that's funny?
