I think the switching powers thing is temporary. Max can restore it when the Orb is fixed.
As for season 4, I'm not sure what's going to happen. On Saturday, they're going to rerun "Thundermans: Secret Revealed," but with an alternate ending. I'm guessing in the alternate ending, Max turns full villain, but maybe Phoebe saves the day(?)
The next episode to air is "Happy Heroween" on Saturday, October 22, 2016. But that was not intended to be the season 4 premiere, but a stand-alone Halloween episode (similar to The Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror).
I was expecting them to hit the reset button and was also surprised they hadn't. Good episode though.
