Baguette

What was Elise putting in her baguette in episode 1 and 3?

Many thanks,

Jon

Is "putting in her baguette" a euphemism ;)?

reply

No more so than the name of the show itself...

It's not really uncommon, hundred thousand of french eat sandwiches like that everyday...  

Sorry but this is a very uncommon food combination. Like the character, she's different. Like Saga in Bron/Broen, her diet isn't a priority at all. She eats crap stuff.

French people would generally not eat a sandwich like that and we do not use tabasco much at all. We use Harissa. The only way you'd see French people eat fries in a baguette sandwich is with Merguez saucisse and Harissa.

I see Tabasco everywhere in France. I live in the south, and find it available in almost every restaurant. At first, this really surprised me, but I have found that it pops up all over the world. Who would have thought? At my school, the Americans would use Ketchup on their fries, while most of the French students would mix Ketchup with Mayo.....or just mayo...the Canadians and Brits, salt and vinegar. No matter what you put inside, everything tastes better on a French baguette.

In season 2 episode 6 Elise, Karl and another frenchman are stuffing hot chips into their baguettes. I had to go make a chip sandwich.

Opened my window to listen to the news But all I heard was the establishment blues!

reply

It was chips and I’ve been craving one like that since I saw her eat it.
