If this show wasn't cancelled....

Robin would still be alive.

I loved this show, I thought it was part of a revival of good Thursday night TV. There had not been a solid Thursday night lineup of shows since Cosby, Cheers and Seinfeld.

And it was ten times better than all the other crap that they pass off as good. Most of these shows they call sitcoms are worse than reality TV, and that is sad!

But Robin had it all...money, respect, a great personality. I just don't get it.

If Robin couldn't take the heat, is there any hope for the rest of us?

Hollywood....it just eats people alive.

reply

Maybe but it was more likely something like a chemical imbalance or something personal, we don't actually know him. Its possible yes and I would hope it wasn't over that.

Robin would still be alive.

I don't think so. Why do you think so?
It was a good show indeed, I just watched the first episodes yet.

The routine from a work can keep your mind off dark thoughts, at least sometimes. Trust me, I know. :(

It was not a secret that Robin had a long history of mood disorder. This is a tragic end to a life that was never very happy. Hollywood did not eat Robin alive; it was the demons of his sadly imbalanced brain. As a psychiatrist, I am always shocked and saddened by suicide, but Robin, and Robin alone brought on his demise. My prayers are with his family and friends.

You must not remember "Must See TV" on NBC in the 90s? Friends, Mad About You, Will and Grace were HUGE on Thursday nights. If I remember correctly, those shows came after Seinfeld aired it's last season. They didn't have the Seinfeld lead in to help in ratings. I could be wrong about that though. No network could compete against NBC during the mid 90s.

You Sir deserve to be banned for making such statement. Why? Because you have pulled it off your ass without any source. He could be depressed for various reasons you idiot.

reply

You need to relax. I think the OP was simply stating they thought the cancellation was the final straw. I don't think they denied the mental illness. RIP Robin.

It's easy to see why some would think that this show's cancellation could had trigger Robin's depression to the point of suicide. This was his big return to TV and so there was a lot of pressure to revive his once successful TV career. Unfortunately, at this time, the audience wanted something different. Certain projects in Hollywood work at different times. Some very successful shows of the past would had not made it now and some of the most successful shows of right now would had not made it past the pilot back in the day.

As for the real reason, why really don't know. He had been suffering from depression for a long time, this according to the media. The pressure of Hollywood can really mess people up, specially those that have chemical imbalances in their brain and specially those that suffer from depression. I can't even imagine how he manage to survive so many years with depression and been in the spot light, that's just pure hell, right there.

Poor man, he was so talented and appear to be so likable as well. I have nothing but good memories and thoughts of him. May he rest in peace...

I was going to say the exact same thing. CBS have his blood on their hands.

reply

If you really believe this, then you're a god damn moron.

reply

Joke aside. OP has a point, the problem was bigger but this possibly could be the final straw. I ain't blaming CBS though.

reply

Stop being melodramatic His problems were bigger than a cancelled TV show. And when you are that depressed a rainy day could tip you over the edge.

Come with me if you don't want paint on your clothes.
